Episode 4: How to Understand Your Dreams: Dream Work, Self-Trust & Inner Knowing with Natasha

This podcast transcript has been produced by Venusian Womb

Episode Summary

What if your dreams are more than stories your mind creates while you sleep? What if they are a living space of communication, creativity, self-discovery, and possibility?

In this episode of the Venusian Womb Podcast, we enter the liminal space between dreaming and waking life with dream worker and facilitator Natasha, exploring what becomes possible when we begin to build an intentional relationship with our dreams.

Natasha shares how dreams have been part of her life since childhood, shaped by a family culture where dreams, intuition, synchronicity, and the unseen were treated as natural parts of everyday conversation. From vivid childhood experiences to lucid dreaming, dream synchronicities, and moments of profound bodily knowing, her story offers a glimpse into how a relationship with the dream realm can become a practice of discernment and self-trust.

Together, we explore the importance of simply remembering and documenting our dreams, and how this seemingly simple practice begins to create a relationship with our dreaming selves. Rather than rushing to interpret every symbol, Natasha invites us to preserve the dream first, allowing its meaning to emerge through context, sensation, symbolism, and time.

The conversation then moves into the body. Dreams are not only visual or symbolic experiences, they can be deeply somatic. We explore how sensations, emotions, and bodily responses experienced in dreams can become anchors that we carry into waking life. Natasha shares how one dream of a solid granite heart became an embodied reminder of her own strength and groundedness, something she could return to when facing uncertainty or moments of self-doubt.

We also unpack the tendency to label dreams as "good" or "bad," particularly when a dream evokes fear or anxiety. Through the example of recurring dreams about a plane crash, Natasha demonstrates how dream work can shift our relationship to what we experience by moving beyond the initial interpretation and returning to the full dream, the body, and the context of our waking lives. A frightening image does not necessarily mean a frightening message.

From here, the conversation opens into a deeper inquiry around autonomy and discernment. Dreams can become a space where we practice noticing sensation without immediately assigning meaning, listening to ourselves without outsourcing our intuition, and recognizing that we have agency even when we do not consciously control what unfolds.

The episode also explores dreams as a creative and collective practice. Natasha speaks about dream incubation, dream engineering, collective dreaming, and the possibility of intentionally bringing questions, desires, and visions into the dream space. Rather than forcing an answer, she describes the practice as an invitation, followed by surrender and trust in how the response may reveal itself.

Ultimately, this conversation asks us to reconsider what dreams might be capable of and how much of their potential we may be leaving unexplored. Dreams can offer a place to process our emotional lives, access creativity, encounter mystery, work through questions, and imagine possibilities for ourselves and the world around us.

At the heart of the conversation is a simple invitation: start paying attention.

Put a notebook beside your bed. Write down what you remember. Notice the sensations that remain. Get curious about the symbols that return. Bring your questions into the dream space. And begin to discover what happens when you stop treating your dreams as something that simply happens to you and start relating to them as part of an ongoing dialogue with yourself, your inner world, and the mystery of being alive.

Because perhaps dreaming is not an escape from reality.

Perhaps it is one of the many doorways through which we learn how to meet it.
